The story

Chesterfield County is advancing a pedestrian safety project along Route 1 that will construct a new sidewalk and add pedestrian crossing infrastructure to improve foot traffic access and safety in the area.

The project will build a sidewalk along Route 1 from Whitehouse Road to Harrowgate Road. A pedestrian crossing will be installed at the intersection of Route 1 and Harrowgate Road, where a traffic signal already exists.
