The story
Dennikia Boyce, 37, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of two VDOT contractors on July 24, 2026. Rai'Shon Eugene Delarge, 30, and Philip Avery Wilson, 34, both of Emporia, were shot at a VDOT equipment staging area near the intersection of Route 1 and Route 288 in Chesterfield County. Virginia State Police troopers were called to the scene shortly before 9:30 a.m. Delarge was pronounced dead at the scene, while Wilson died from his injuries later that afternoon.
Police have characterized the shooting as domestic in nature, and investigators believe Boyce knew at least one of the victims. Boyce, who previously worked as a correctional officer at Greensville Correctional Center, has not been apprehended.
According to a federal criminal complaint filed August 31, Boyce fled Virginia after the shooting. Surveillance footage tracked her to Ahoskie, North Carolina, on July 24, and to Conway, North Carolina, on July 26. Her vehicle was found on July 28 behind a church in Pendleton, North Carolina. As of early September, authorities believe she remains in North Carolina.
The U.S. Marshals Service, Virginia State Police, and the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force are actively searching for Boyce. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to her arrest. Anyone with information can contact law enforcement at 1-877-WANTED-2.
