Chesterfield County and the Virginia Department of Transportation have completed a $12.8 million bridge replacement project on Dundas Road (Route 641) over G Road. The new structure replaces a bridge built in 1961 and includes pedestrian accommodations, with work spanning from Meadowdale Boulevard to Strathmore Road.

Construction finished in April 2026 after beginning in spring 2024. During the project, westbound Dundas Road was reduced to one lane and eastbound traffic was detoured to Chippenham Parkway at Meadowdale Boulevard. The project aimed to improve infrastructure and pedestrian connectivity in the area.

According to 2017 traffic counts, Dundas Road carries approximately 7,100 vehicles per day. For more information, VDOT project manager Scott Chapman can be reached at 804-609-5277 or scott.chapman@vdot.virginia.gov.
