The story

Two VDOT contractors were shot and killed at an equipment yard along Route 1 in Chesterfield County on Friday, July 24, just before 9:30 a.m. Rai'Shon Eugene Delarge, 30, died at the scene. Philip Avery Wilson, 34, was hospitalized and died from his injuries that afternoon. Both men were from Emporia.

Virginia State Police investigated the shooting as a domestic incident, noting that the shooter knew at least one victim. By July 30, authorities identified the suspect as Dennikia Boyce, 37, a Black woman described as approximately 5'6" tall and weighing about 160 pounds. According to law enforcement sources, Boyce was in a relationship with one of the victims and formerly worked as a correctional officer at Greensville Correctional Center. She remains at large.
