The story

A North Chesterfield man was arrested Friday after a shooting on Interstate 64 eastbound that Virginia State Police say stemmed from a road rage incident. Christopher Chappelle, 31, allegedly drove a maroon Dodge van aggressively near another vehicle, changing lanes rapidly and tailgating before pulling alongside and firing multiple shots.

A 40-year-old woman in the other vehicle was struck multiple times and transported to an area hospital. The 18-year-old driver was not injured. After the shooting, the suspect van was located abandoned on the shoulder of I-64 about five miles from the scene. James City County Police located Chappelle at a nearby business and took him into custody. He was taken to an area hospital after reporting exhaustion.
