Officers Clark and Wells were shot on May 31 during a domestic disturbance call in the 12900 block of Gumfork Place. Clark, 25, a five-year department veteran, was struck seven times. Wells, 40, who has served nearly a decade, was shot twice, including a wound that severed the brachial artery in his right arm. Both men, who come from families with deep roots in the Chesterfield Police Department, were hospitalized and have since been discharged to recover at home with their families. A police K-9, Knight, was also killed during the incident.

The hockey benefit brought together support from Woody and Nelsen Funeral Homes, Titan Auto and Tire, The Jersey Shoppe, and Capital Beltway Warriors Ice Hockey Inc., along with multiple participating teams and community sponsors. The collaboration demonstrated both the broader public safety community's commitment to supporting injured officers and the local business community's willingness to aid their neighbors in need.
