The story
Chesterfield County is moving forward with construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Old Bermuda Hundred Road and Ramblewood Drive, funded through federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement grants. The project will convert the existing unsignalized intersection into a single-lane roundabout, with improvements including curb and gutter, storm sewer, stormwater management, lighting, pavement markings, and signing.
Design work is substantially complete, and right-of-way acquisition is currently underway. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2027. The county held a public hearing on the project on April 7, 2026, with the public comment period closing on April 20, 2026.
During construction, existing traffic patterns will be maintained where possible through daily lane and shoulder closures during off-peak hours. A full closure of the intersection is anticipated for approximately three weeks, with several separate weekend closures as needed during the construction period.
