Chesterfield Wins National Award for Digital Services

TL;DR: Chesterfield County placed fourth in the 2026 Government Experience Awards, a national competition recognizing digital government service excellence.

The story

Chesterfield County placed fourth in the overall county government experience category at the 2026 Government Experience (GovX) Awards, announced October 15. The awards, sponsored by the Center for Digital Government (a division of e.Republic), recognize state and local governments that excel at delivering accessible, inclusive, and engaging digital services to residents.

The ranking put Chesterfield County among the nation's top performers for digital government innovation. Santa Clara County, California placed first, followed by Cumberland County, North Carolina in second and Montgomery County, Maryland in third. County of Albemarle, Virginia rounded out the top five.

Chris Coleman, Chesterfield County's eGovernment Services Manager, said the county is "continually looking for ways to make our services easier to access and use, helping residents find information and connect with their county government." The GovX Awards honor jurisdictions that use shared tools and new technology to improve their services. The awards program is now in its 10th year.
