Four Chesterfield-area entrepreneurs are launching the first Virginia location of Barrel House, an Iowa-based beer-focused restaurant chain, in the Stonehenge Village Shopping Center in Midlothian. Rajbans Joshi, Satish Mishra, Pooja Malu, and Vakul Goel have teamed to bring the concept to the region, targeting an opening in November or December 2026.
The 2,900-square-foot space at 12646 Stone Village Way, in Chesterfield County, previously housed 101 Crafthouse, which operated for about five years. Before that, it was a Growler USA location. The four owners—who have been discussing a business venture together for several years—visited Barrel House locations in the Midwest and were drawn to the concept. Vakul Goel is also a local franchisee for Celebree School, a preschool and daycare chain.
Barrel House currently operates seven locations, primarily in its home state of Iowa, with additional outposts in Illinois and Frisco, Texas. The chain is headquartered in Davenport, Iowa, and was founded in 2011. The Chesterfield opening will be the chain's eighth location and its first expansion into Virginia. Barrel House is known for its award-winning wings, pub staples including burgers, sandwiches, tacos, pizzas, and salads, and Midwestern classics like cheese curds, along with a selection of craft beers. The restaurant plans to hire approximately 20 employees before opening.
