A 6-year-old girl who went missing from Chesterfield County has been found safe, authorities confirmed Friday morning. Thelma Jessie Cockrell, described as 4 feet tall with black hair and brown eyes, was last seen with 37-year-old Jasmine Courtney Cockrell around 1 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, near the 14000 block of Cherry Street. The two were last spotted at approximately 8 a.m. Thursday along Wolfe Street in Alexandria. Virginia State Police issued a CODI Alert (Child Abduction Danger/Disaster Alert) Thursday afternoon as the search expanded.

While Thelma has been recovered, Jasmine Courtney Cockrell, 37, remains missing. Jasmine is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing approximately 115 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue or purple sundress. Police believe she may be driving a red 2016 Mazda CX-5 with Virginia license plate SWR-9898.

Authorities stated there were "existing health and welfare concerns involving Jasmine" that prompted immediate concern for both her safety and the child's. However, after the girl's recovery, police indicated "there is no indication of any immediate concern" at the time of their most recent statement. Investigators continue efforts to locate and make contact with Jasmine Cockrell.
